This is my little corner of the web.
Here I share a piece of myself: the things that excite me or stir me up.

I’m Gwenhywar, and I have many interests that accompany me through life: writing, singing, genealogy, animals, and photography. Alongside these come little thoughts, impressions, and moods that matter to me. Sometimes serious, sometimes lighthearted—just whatever fits me in the moment. Together, they create a colorful picture of what moves me.
As a young teenager, I started keeping diaries and have never stopped writing since.
At first, it was poems, later short stories and eventually entire books. Along the way, I also discovered my love for languages.
Today, I write biographies, reflections, and stories – and writing has even become part of my profession.

Singing is my yoga!
Ever since I was a child, I’ve sung everywhere—at home, in kindergarten, and at school. It wasn’t until I was around thirty that I decided to study it properly. Today, I sing soprano in a wonderful choir, have even had the chance to perform solo— and I keep discovering how much joy the voice can bring.

Animals have always been part of my life—from rabbits, gerbils, and a rat to budgies, fish, and frogs, all the way to my cats today. Add to that the office dogs, who bring variety and good cheer. At home, in the garden, or out at the zoo—there’s rarely a time in my life without animal encounters, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. The only exception? Ants—I just don’t like them!

I actually have more of a black thumb—mostly because I tend to overwater almost every plant. But of all things, mosquitoes led me to a special passion: carnivorous plants.
Nepenthes, the fascinating pitcher plants, have been with me for years and bring me so much joy. But sundews, Venus flytraps, and pitcher plants have also found their way onto my windowsill.

Of course, I sometimes just snap photos with my phone, but my greatest joy comes from my Canon DSLR. I love heading out with it to capture old buildings, animals, or plants—all subjects that tell their own stories. The camera is almost like a key, opening up new perspectives for me. People, on the other hand, I rarely photograph: animals don’t run away and never complain about the results.

I stumbled into genealogy more or less by accident. My uncle was convinced that with him and his son, my mother’s maiden name would die out—until she proved him wrong with a quick look into the phone book. That made me curious, and so I started more than 25 years ago.
With advancing technology, the search has become easier and easier, and by now my family tree holds over 14,000 people—with no end in sight.

I’ve always been passionate about games.
Board games since childhood, later a full dose of role-playing as a teenager and young adult. Today, I call myself a somewhat “aged” gaming girl (mostly PC, but also console)—and I love quizzes and puzzles just as much. What I enjoy most is puzzling, laughing, or diving into new worlds together with others.
My motto: when it comes to play, I’m in—no excuses!

I consider my interests quite diverse—and yet I keep stumbling upon new things that spark my curiosity. That’s what makes it so exciting: there’s simply so much waiting to be tried and discovered. Sometimes it’s small things, sometimes whole new topics that suddenly find their place. This section is therefore my colorful treasure chest—for everything that doesn’t fit anywhere else but, in my opinion, absolutely deserves a mention.
