I love animals – really all of them… well, except ants. 🐜 (They can please live somewhere else.)
For as long as I can remember, my life has been a colorful little zoo: as a kid I always had pets, later a pretty big garden joined in, and ever since I was four years old, something has been buzzing, fluttering, or purring around the house. 🌱🐾
And sometimes even that’s not enough – then I head out into the world to see more animals, to marvel at them, to simply enjoy them. Whether it’s dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, exotic creatures at the zoo, or the tiny visitors in the garden: there’s always something going on, and I truly believe every animal has its own special charm.

He’s been living with us since December 2023 – about nine years old when he arrived, and straight away the new boss of the house. A cat who’d much rather be a dog: he follows us, demands attention and sometimes thinks he’s on guard duty. 🐾 He’s a bit clumsy, a touch awkward, but that’s exactly what makes him so unique. He simply belongs. 🌟

From fluffy rabbits to speedy gerbils and even a curious rat – they all left their mark. 🐭🐇 Then came frogs and several generations of fish. 🐟🐸 And of course, another cat had to be part of this colourful bunch.
They’re all part of the story of my little farm – and remain unforgettable, even if they’ve long since gone off on other adventures. 🌈

No green thumb here, but the gardening still ends up on me. I actually think most of it is unnecessary – the more grass and wildflowers, the more buzzing and scurrying about. 🐝🐿️ Squirrels, birds, hedgehogs, bats, mice, pigeons, songbirds and even the odd long-eared owl. 📸 All caught on wildlife cameras – and there are the neighbourhood cats sneaking through. 🐾

For many it’s a nuisance, for me it’s a blessing: we’ve got office dogs. 🐕 I love how relaxing it feels when the day isn’t just filled with keyboards clattering, but also paws padding across the floor. A bit of fur, a bit of chaos – just right. Only Poldi can’t come along … he’d be up to mischief in no time. 🐾

Whether in parks, in fields or right in the middle of town – animals are simply everywhere. 🐦🐕 Some walk politely on a lead, others graze calmly in the meadow or dart about as wild creatures in the green. And me? I always try to make contact – a glance, a paw, a flap of wings. There’s always something. 🌱

Zoos are often caught in the crossfire of criticism – but I see it differently. For me, they’re places where species are preserved, protected and made visible. 🦒🐘 I love watching animals there that I’d never see otherwise. I firmly believe in the value of zoos for conservation. And I’m always happy about every snapshot…
