Everything that doesn’t really fit anywhere else – just like me not fitting into any box. 😏
For me, language is like a ticket to a brand-new world. I love writing, meeting people, and discovering new thoughts and opinions – and for that, languages are simply essential.
So far, I’ve peeked into ten different languages – including sign language. Two of them I speak pretty fluently: German (my native tongue) and English. But since standing still is boring, I’ve also taken on two app projects: Scottish Gaelic (because it sounds so wonderfully mysterious and, let’s be honest, kind of sexy) and Swahili (because it’s so refreshingly different to my ears – and because all the names in The Lion King come from it). 🦁
I love translating, playing with words, and discovering differences or similarities between languages. And what I really enjoy is collecting swear words from all over the world – complete with their meanings, of course. Because let’s face it: nothing reveals more about a culture than the way it curses. 😏
I’m also a bit of a fact nerd: there are about 7,000 languages worldwide, and around 2,400 of them are considered endangered. And yet, I keep stumbling across new, crazy, and beautiful ones.
For me, learning languages isn’t just about understanding foreign words, but about grasping ways of thinking, cultures, and beliefs. Every language is like a tiny key to a new door – and I’m definitely having fun trying them all out. 🔑🌍
I love movies and series. But not all of them: you can chase me away with space stories – science fiction is usually not my thing. With one exception: “Quantum Leap.” That show simply hooked me.
“Funny war stories”? Also not my genre. And yet, I’d still love to drop by the Swamp of the MAS*H 4077th for a martini. 🍸
And yes, I admit it: I’m a true fan. I even did the full tour through Atlanta and Senoia – just to see Woodbury, Hershel’s Farm, and Alexandria in real life. The tour guides? None other than former The Walking Dead zombies. 🧟♂️
But it’s not only about entertainment for me – I also love stories with depth. Movies like “Forrest Gump” or even more so “Philadelphia” move me every single time.
For me, movies and series are a colorful world that pulls me out of everyday life – and still gives me so much back for the real one.
